It's almost the end of summer and that can only mean the AIGA Always Summer Poster Show is here. I've been busy slaving away on this years poster and if you attend the show you can see it firsthand. If not, I'll be posting pics once the show is over. For now you can check out a little interview I did with AIGA Jacksonville about the poster I designed last year, check it out here.
The AIGA Jacksonville's Always Summer Poster Show this past weekend was amazing to say the least. There were some seriously great posters hanging on the walls of the Thief in the Knight building. Here is my poster I created for my favorite song this summer, Best Coast's "When I'm With You." Since Best Coast is a low fi, surf rock band from California and I wanted to pay homage to that. I started off sketching some retro looking kids smiling/singing and thought the speech bubbles would make a nice symmetrical design. After all that I went in and created a half tone pattern to make it look like it was silk screened and repeated some of the elements in the background to give it some texture. I really like how it turned out and I hope Best Coast would like what I created.
